How to Block Caller ID

Now that there are more and more phone models that have a caller ID screen, more and more people would also want to know how to block caller ID? You may want to do this because of security reasons or you would rather want your number to be anonymous as well. You can set a temporary block or a permanent block on your caller ID if you want. Here are some steps on how to block caller ID through your phone.

1. In the US, you can have your number permanently blocked by dialing a code through your phone. But if you want your number to be seen on some contacts then you can have it temporary blocked instead. This is often done by dialing *82 but you must contact your service provider for any other codes you may need to enter.

2. You can also ask your service provider to block caller ID for you permanently in all outgoing calls you make. You may also get charged for this service so ask about this beforehand.

3. In the US, dialing *67 and then the number you wish to call can usually activate a block caller ID feature. This won’t work however for toll free numbers and any emergency numbers as well.

4. It is wise too to ask for other features to secure your identity as well as determine other people’s number when they call. You may feel comfortable that your number is not seen by the person on the other end but what about prank calls that you receive? Ask your provider about removing you from national dialing lists as well.

Knowing how to block caller ID can make you safe and feel secure so all members of the family will find it useful to be aware of this effective feature.
